This past week the National Honors Society at Olathe East, met for the second time this year. NHS meets monthly to accomplish a service project to better the community. On Thursday, they created dog toys out of old t-shirts. This was a way to eliminate wasted clothing, while contributing to a local shelter. In just 20 minutes, they made 233 dog toys, this exceeded all the sponsors expectations. They will be donating them to KC Pet Project at Swope Park.
“This was an amazing project for NHS to work on together because people got to see for themselves how something as easy as braiding old t-shirts could benefit their community and make themselves feel good,” NHS president Gabi Armenta said.

It was awesome to watch members work diligently to make these dog toys while having fun with each other. Great job to all who participated!
