With homecoming coming up this Saturday there is a lot of hype going into the weekend, so it’s important to leave off on a good note heading to the homecoming dance.
It’s looking good for the Hawks heading into this week’s game being 3–0, the first time since 2020 the Hawks have started off that good. The players are ready and hungry for another win against a tough Shawnee Mission North that will be a battle, but the Hawks are ready for the challenge.
The Olathe East Football team had a breakout season last year, not starting out quite as great though with a 1–2 record to start off the year. But the Hawks ended great last year with a 7–3 record and are looking to continue with an as great season as last year.
“I’m excited to win this game with the people I love and worked so hard with over these past couple years,” captain Josiah Young says.
According to Head Coach Courtney Porter to have a good homecoming, they need to win the game so all the players have been building off of that all week. Coach Porter received KCTV5 coach of the week, and the team received the Hyvee team of the week, which has given the players and coaches more anticipation to play this game.
“I’m excited to be victorious and go into this weekend knowing we won, it makes homecoming so much better,” captain Pete Izzo says.
UPDATE: The Olathe East Hawks defeated the Shawnee Mission North Bison in a 23-7 win.
