“Where are you going to college?” The dreadful question that seniors are being asked constantly.
A year from now most of us will be moving in and starting classes at a brand-new school, new people, away from what we know. It’s scary getting to the point that you’ve been trying to reach for the past 12 years. Trying to pack everything into the last year to try making it the best.
“Picking where to go to college scares me the most,” senior Corrine Cole said. “I haven’t even applied yet.”
It’s only the first few weeks of the year and college applications just opened for most schools, but some people like to get a head start.
Senior Hannah Lavender has already applied and committed to Loras College, she started her college search last year and continued deciding during the summer.
In high school you see your friends every single day, some you’ve seen every day since Kindergarten, some you just met this year. No matter how long you have known them, they become constants in your life.
It’s scary that it’s the end,” Lavender said. “All my friends are going off to different places.”
There are so many activities and events senior year that make the entire class closer to each other and have a special bond.
“I’m trying to spend the most time I can with my friends,” senior Audrey Lyons said. “I’m excited to go on a senior trip to Mexico with them all.”
Even with all the sadness about the last year, Cole, Lavender, and Lyons are all ready for the school dances and senior events planned.
“I’m excited for all the activities I’m involved in and to go to all the games,” senior class president Dylan Gilbo said.
Walking through the halls as a freshman and walking through the halls as a senior feels like a different world. When you’re a senior there’s no one to look up to anymore, you are the role models. Even though seniors are the oldest of the school, they aren’t always conscious of that.
“I feel like I am still stuck in sophomore year,” Lavender said.
The time goes by so quickly every year and there’s no way to slow it. Sport games, events, awards, shows, and dances happen day after day and everyone captures and saves their memories differently.
“I take photos all the time, so I don’t forget the memories and I can look back on them later in life,” Lyons said.
